So I ordered Death from the Skies last Friday anticipating that it would arrive at my FLGS today (it's a one-man store, so closed Mon, Tue) and that I'd be writing a review tonight. Well this morning I opened my e-mail to find the following:
Subject: Your copy of Death from the Skies
Hello.
At the weekend you ordered a copy of the new flyers book, Death from the Skies, but we sold way more copies than we anticipated. That means, regrettably, there’s going to be a delay to your order while we get the book reprinted. We currently expect to have the book back in stock on the 4th of March – we’ll ship it to you immediately.
We’re really sorry about that. It’s not the service you’d expect from Games Workshop. We know that you want to get your hands on the book quickly, since you’ll be waiting to send your flyers into battle.
So to make it up to you we are giving you free Virtual Gift Vouchers to the value of $25 (Voucher Code: xxxxxxxx) to spend as you like on the Games Workshop website.

OK, so yes I'm a tad disappointed, that I won't be getting my hands on a copy for another two weeks, but hey, it just cost me $25 bucks less than I thought :) .
It also confirms what I thought was going on with the whole Direct Only and English only bit; They just didn't think they were going to sell enough copies to justify printing the number of copies needed to prime the wholesale supply chain.

Great that they pre-emptively offered the gift certificate. I've never had any real beef with Games Workshop once something goes wrong. They're usually pretty forward about sorting stuff out.
